Apprentice Star wins Sustainable Building Show Award

Protherm Ltd, the leading provider of Thermal Insulation Products to the BER market and the company run by 'Apprentice' star Joanna Murphy was chosen as the Merit Award Winner at the 2009 Sustainable Building Show in the RDS.

The Award reflects the new technology and high thermal conductivity evident in the Edilteco range of products that Protherm Ltd has brought to the Irish market.

Joanna Murphy, director of Protherm and the star of the Apprentice in 2008 has been at the forefront of bringing this new technology to the Irish market and making it a success.

"After finishing the Apprentice, I was looking for a new business opportunity to throw myself into.  As a mother, I had noticed a huge increase in the cost of heating our own home and I looked into external insulation as a way of not alone lowering our fuel costs, but also reducing our carbon footprint.  Having assessed the full range of external insulation products available in Ireland, I noticed how hugely cumbersome and labour intensive all of the existing systems were.  So I set about finding an innovative insulation system that possessed all of the proven insulation properties of Polystyrene."

"And finally I found ECAP.  ECAP is a prefinished thermal insulation panel which recently scooped the product of the year award for innovation. It reduces the labour aspect of external insulation by up to 75%, making it extremely cost competitive and its application is structurally non intrusive in both domestic and industrial use."
